It’s my personal belief that the solution to jam start “booing” is not to change the rules, but to educate the fans. Since most of the “fans” who boo are skaters, then I’ll start there. I find the diversity of jam starts fascinating because I see all these things going on in real time and the phenomenal complexity of “war game” strategy going on on the track, even when someone appears to be “doing nothing” or “not skating.” But most of the skaters I interact with need the speed slowed down or the circles and arrows to start to “get” the details of this really exciting interaction.
